   Michael Wiggins
Michael WigginsProviding his clients with practical value-added solutions to fit their legal and business needs, Michael's practice focuses primarily on business and commercial law, and consulting his clients in the areas of risk management, startup and enterprise financing, succession planning contract negotiations and effective personal and business communication skills.

Michael graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular/Cellular Biology in 1997, and after working in the mobile commerce technology field for a time, he graduated from the Seattle University School of Law in 2001. Immediately thereafter, Michael began his career with Romero Park & Wiggins' predecessor, Romero Montague P.S. He has since worked his way through the ranks to become Romero Park & Wiggins' Vice-President of Marketing and Business Development. Michael has been named as a "Rising Star" in Washington Law and Politics' Annual Super Lawyers Survey in 2 of the past 5 years.

Over the years Michael has successfully counseled and assisted hundreds of individuals and business regarding the successful operations of their enterprises. The following are but a few examples of the types of services Michael has rendered on his clients' behalves:
  • Representing and counseling entertainment, real estate development and professional services start-ups, and small and medium size corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships, in their formations, fundraising efforts and operations. Provided those same clients with risk management and business communications advice and services.
  • Representing alternative energy companies in contractual disputes and licensing issues related to alternative energy sources and sharing.
  • Representing the largest condominium association in Washington State regarding claims brought by its homeowners alleging that the association had improperly assessed dues for the upkeep and maintenance of common areas and facilities.
  • Representing a professional services organization who was a creditor in a bankruptcy proceeding wherein the organization held secured interests to certain real property owned by the debtor. Was able to negotiate payment for secured interest short of trial.
  • Representing a prime contractor against claims made by homeowner for alleged breach of contract on million dollar construction/remodel project. Was able to settle the claims on very favorable terms.
  • Representing a bankruptcy trustee of a publicly traded company in suit for damages brought about by insurance agent's failure to represent company's interests when renewing commercial property insurance policy; and represented same trustee in company's claim against insurance company for bad faith breach of contract related to the same commercial property insurance policy.
Whether he is assisting his client in setting up and funding a new company, negotiating a supplier agreement, creating and implementing a comprehensive risk mitigation plan, or he is simply training and counseling a company's executives and managers on how to better communicate with their employees and customers, Michael provides each client with the same thoughtful, practical and value-added approach to running their business successfully. Licensed in both Washington and Oregon, Michael, in conjunction with the other attorneys at Romero Park & Wiggins, is able to provide these services to his clients all up and down the West Coast and in Utah.

When Michael is not helping his clients meet their legal and business needs, he loves to spend his free time, first and foremost, with his wife and 5 children. He also enjoys fly fishing, writing, reading and playing the guitar. In the past, Michael has served on the Board of the Brigham Young University's Marriott School of Business' Management Society, and has also volunteered his time as a Reserve Police Officer with the City of Des Moines, Washington Police Department.
